Mamas, help me out!

Z2 is waking up at all hours of the night. He wakes up crying and upset and will not be consoled even if I bring him into our bed. For the past few nights, he has literally be sleeping in my arms for hours. I thought we had gotten over this stage long ago. He's not looking to nurse. He just seems to have a difficult time staying asleep. He's 21 months. What could this be and what can I do? I am so sleep-deprived and now I feel another sinus thing coming on. I need to sleep!!! Help!!!

sorry :( . I'm not a mom so I don't have an useful advice....but hang in there. You sound like a pretty sane parent. New toys? I remember when my baby sister was around that age, sometimes she freaked out at night because of some toys in her room she didn't like. I know thats really random and probably wont help.

Good luck! :-)

My ds did the same thing...he would wake up in the middle of the night and it was like nothing could snap him out of it. He would just cry and cry and cry. He wasn't hungry either. I had to do the same thing, I just held him in my arms until he calmed down and fell back asleep, usually by rocking him in the rocking chair we had. That lasted for a few months. Then he slowly stopped doing it. It was just a phase, I guess. I was told by a couple of friends that when children do that, it is usually because they are learning and processing soo much information during the day that they just snap at night. I don't know if that is similar to what your ds is going thru (and I don't know if that was what was occurring with my son) but I hope this helps in some way.
Sorry this is so long, lol.

Thanks guys! It just might be overstimulation during the day/too many new things at once. I hope it's over soon though. Last night was good which was a blessing.

Have you considered essential oil on his feet at night lavendar or vetiver?
